DISCUSSION FORUM: STEAM

Issues surrounding applications of the STEM initiative include questions of disciplinary boundaries and integration. The STEAM project faces these issues directly in considering what the “A” stands for. In this forum, MICA invites discussions of research addressing the presuppositions underlying the divisions marked by the four areas of STEM and their relation to STEAM. A good place to start is to read the BERA committee report on STEAM (see link in Research Articles). From a cognitive perspective, these divisions obscure the advances made in the cognitive sciences that call into question long-standing assumptions of the nature of human cognition and our relation to the world of which we form a part. Participants are invited to post research articles to the site that may then be discussed in this forum.
